"Another Year"

A woman of true beauty and elegance
Her every movement reminds me of a graceful swan.
A never ending song. A Shakespearean drama.
Probably the reason why the word "beauty" was even created.
In my dreams, I held her hand and laughed with her.
In my dreams, I told her bizarre things and she will smile.
In my dreams. Yes in my dreams. Only in my dreams.
She is the bright moon that I dream to set foot on.
The butterfly that kiss the flowers all over the world
but never one's will land on my shoulder.
Just how goddesses should be.
Could be seen and heard by mortals, sadly, forever out of reach.
She and I could stand in the same Parthenon.
Still, she will be in another realm, another world.
And I will be standing still watching the modern day mirror on the wall, the one that shows her face, the fairest of them all.
Another number is added to her years.
Another white streak to her soft curled hair.
And perhaps another mark of the crows feet on the side of her eyes.
It could also mean,
Another year lovelier.
Another addition to experience and warm kindness.
Another year to share what she has.
Another to brighten the world with her smile.
As for me, this is another year closer to the faithful, surreal day, that I would stand face to face with the beautiful angel.

Today I raise my glass in celebration to the birthday of one selfless, whose heart is as big and warm as the sun.
To Miss Boots Anson Roa.!

Ingrid Elizabeth Spencer Lobregat

Just weeks after my life..(ahemm i mean) MLKI ended,
by serendipity, i stumbled across this article in the internet saying
"Ms. Boots Anson Roa would soon be a part of Munting Heredera....."
I say "YAY!!!!"
timang-timangan mode. HAPPINESS. finally, I'll see her again regularly.
Okay. Scroll Scroll continued reading the article.
"....as the scheming Ingrid Lobregat"
nice name.
wait..what? the what?
back read.
did i just read "scheming"?
did someone on the blasted internet defined "the" Boots Anson Roa "scheming"?
okay, overacting. it's just the character that she is going to portray.
I smiled, wiggled my nose and shook my eyebrows like an evil maniac.
this is going to be interesting.
and voila!! indeed interesting it was.

The beautiful, Elegant, Scheming (trust me she is "scheming" really) and paranoid
Ingrid Elizabeth Spencer Lobregat
on a venture to get back at Anna Montereal (Gloria Romero) who is the object of her ex-husband Enrique's (Robert Arevalo) love and attention.
Ingrid here is a pathetic woman who wouldn't and couldn't let Enrique go.
She has the money, the attitude and enough cause to wreck havoc in the Montereal's lives,
really, there is nothing worse than the capacity of a woman's broken heart to take revenge.
Actually, Ingrid is really, really, really annoying of a woman.
She is mean, pathetic, paranoid, scheming, i can even call her evil.
Now, why do I love her if Ingrid is all that bad?
First, are you kidding me???
it's Boots Anson Roa!! heck! I'd still love her even if she will play someone close to being a minion of darkness.
Second...,
Come on..the woman deserve a break! the bottomline of everything is, Ingrid is just a woman in-love.
And third, lets all be honest here. Who would want to hate a woman as lovely as that?
I wouldn't. that's for sure.

The drastic, rough transition from being the feisty but kind, gentle, homely and motherly Remedios Sebastiano from MLKI to the
glamorous,socialite,elegant,mean and evil Ingrid Lobregat
amused me the most.
If asked, who would I like better.
I'd still go for Remedios the prim and proper, on the other hand, Ingrid is a woman to learn lesson's from.
To fight for something/someone you love the most and to never give up on them is an act of bravery, though for Ingrid's case, it is way beyond pathetic and way more than infatuation.
Seeing the prim and proper Ms. Boots Anson Roa play Ingrid's character effectively is amazing for me.
The lunacy of Ingrid is getting on people's nerves but it tickles mine.
They are spiteful over her but I am sympathetic to her.
They hate her and I so Love her.

(Her royal evilness Ingrid Lobregat)

She may be evil, but golly wow!! Ingrid is one heck of a lovely villainess.
The modern day red lipped, red nail polished witch.
No sweet Snow White's could ever match.

Now, to all the Damsel's in Distress:
"BEAT THAT."

The Anatomy of an Angel's Face

Everything about an angel, particularly this angel...is beautiful..
nay- PERFECT.
but like the the critic that I really am..
I decided to elaborate each feature..
(Deep breath..this is not gonna be hard..since the beauty is glaring.)
here we go..

Lets start with those tantalizing eyes.
The eyes that conveys all the needed things to be conveyed.
The eyes that more often than not speak up when the lip are too tightly sealed to make any remark..
They say that the eyes is the window to one's soul,
well, I must say...
this woman has a very beautiful window,

The Nose

The perfect nose line,
the tip, the bridge.

The Lips.

the lips that spoke of kindness..
the lips that shushed her children at night through a bad dream.
the lips that delivered unforgettable lines.

How much could a mortal like me define an angel's beauty?
Every now and then while trying to dissect each characteristics I'd bump into a wall.
A dead end.
the bottom line of it all,
there is only one word to describe those features precisely...
"Gorgeous"

"The Roles She Play Everyday"

People see Ms. Boots Anson Roa as a figure to look up to.
I see her as a walking pool of good example and everlasting inspiration.
Throughout the many years that this great lady walked in the carpeted floors of show business, she had played hundred of roles.
From the naive, sweet, kind, gentle, loving, martyr, pathetic, desperate, paranoid, mean, scheming and evil.
she did them all very effectively, i should say.
But....
after a moment of thinking, an idea sprouted from my mind.
a spur of the moment, a split-second thinking.
I asked myself, what could be the different roles that she juggle behind camera.
So, thank you to my wild and untamed imagination, I have created a list.
If these items are either right or wrong only one single person could prove that.
It is the lady herself.
Now, I take you to my list.

I believed, it is one of the things that I admire about Ms. Boots.
the constant admittance that, as a person with higher knowledge and experience in life, she still learns important lessons from those younger than she actually is.
"It is very humbling to feel the solid earth under your feet, to stay grounded and humble."
that is how, I see her.

The Traveling Elegant Soul.

From Asia, Europe, and the great America,
she had visited them all.
Like the way she lived and is living her life, every journey and voyage is never just a luxury for the eye but also a haven for the mind and soul.
For her, it is the chance to recollect thoughts and learn new lessons from.
Lessons that she collects like souvenirs and then is shared to others as "pasalubong".

Before she became the teacher and the learner, and before she became the traveler she was first and foremost,
Her father's daughter.
Before becoming someone Else's queen. she was her father's princess.

The sister I'm sure everyone would want.

The Loving Wife
the woman every man would want to bring home to his parents.
the woman no man would hesitate to ask her hand in marriage.

The Cool and Caring Mom
I don't know the Roa Brood personally but the way I see them, read articles about them and hear things concerning them, I could make out a clear picture of how they were raised by their mom.
They are more like friends than parent-children set-up without compromising the respect.

The doting lola
I came across an article where Ms. Boots was asked to write down a list of people very influencial to her life.
She wrote "all" her grandchildren's names.
She said that it is not that old people always impart lesson to young ones, but somehow, sometimes, it happens the other way around.

The Good Friend

And of course, the role that we came to know her of.
The Actress.
Finesse, Elegant, Graceful, Professional
That is Ms. Boots Anson Roa to a T.

disclaimer: i do not own any of the photo's i used. send me a mail if you want credit if one of the photo;s above is yours or of someone you know. all of these photo's is from the internet.

RoBoots

The teleserye Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin (MLKI) ignited many attention to the
Ronaldo Valdez-Boots Anson Roa tandem.
Their characters as husband and wife faced a rift brought by the extra marital affair of
Jaime Sebastiano (Ronaldo Valdez) and the bringing home of an illegitimate daughter the event eventually drove Remedios Sebastiano (Boots Anson Roa) to leave Jaime and once again joined the lawless group of "rebelde's" where she used to be a member before she met Jaime.
The heavy lines, spiteful looks, grudges, pain, and contempt for each others character is only the top layer for Jaime and Remedios.
It is in fact the "I Still Love You" unsaid lines, the lingering looks, and the
"You're All I'm Thinking Of" alone moments that really captured the audience hearts.

So, that is where my interest for the RoBoots "love team" started.
Then, out of nowhere, something hit me.
I realized, this is not the first project that this two people starred as husband and wife and incidentally, I watched those films already. Its just that, it didn't matter to me then, no buttons are pushed. But now, it meant a lot it did pushed a lot of buttons.
Here is a List (From my Memory)

1. the Butch Belgica Story
(Where they play parents to Joco Diaz who played Butch Belgica)
Note: There was a scene where Joco approached Ms. Boots who was crying because of her husband's affair.
2. Sukob
(They played parents to Kris Aquino who became the subject of the curse)
Note: A confrontation scene of a crying Ronaldo Valdez and also a crying Boots Anson Roa about the husband having illegitimate child from a mistress.
3. May Minamahal
(Ms.Boots played the role of Aga Muhlach's mom, and Mr.Ronaldo played Aiko Melendez's dad)
4. When Love Begins
(Here, they are the "super" sweet parents of Aga Muhlach)
5. Pidols Woderland Christmas Special.

For the 5th of the list, it was a breather from the heavy drama for me, though it was from 2010
I just saw it while surfing "youtube" and scanning for some RoBoots stuff's in the middle of the MLKI airing.
Ms. Boots played "Boots" the long lost friend of Sussana (Susan Roces) and Pidol (Dolphy) who went missing from the day she was suppose to marry Joe (Ronaldo Valdez).
As a result from devastation and heartache, Joe turned nuts and dropped his basket.
(Lost his mind)
It kinda blew my top off seeing Ronaldo Valdez danced, hips swaying, grinding and to top it all off in a crazy state of mind, wearing crazy dirty clothes and randomly rattling crazy things.
And I REALLY blew my top off seeing Boots Anson Roa giggle like a school girl, tucked her hair behind her ear and gushed and blushed.
It was a major "OH MY GOSH!!" for me.
The video clips of those precious "Joe?" "Boots?"
"Boots!!" "Joe!", "Joe.." "Boots.." scenes drove me mad and had me laughing in stitches till my side hurts.
6. MLKI
(He, w/ an extra marital affair. She, the martyr wife who turned into a martyr no more)
Just recently, I found an old movie poster here in the net
(GOD Bless the person who uploaded it)
then it leads us to the 7th in our list.
7. Ang Pag-Ibig koy huwag mong sukatin

It is only very unfortunate of me that there are no information's available about this movie.

Aside from the professionalism, it is the good relationship with your co-actor that makes the tandem click.
In this case, this two people remained good friends through decades and i guess it is what made it easy for both to work with comfort and ease alongside each other.

NOTE: Notice that 3 of the items in list has small notes indicating that in those films/tv series, may illicit extra marital affair si Mr. Ron Valdez and Ms. Boots is the ever martyr na asawa.
i found it funny and cute at the same time.

"DaBoots"

Boots Anson Roa's number one on screen partner is Dante Rivero.
Here is a a list of the movies this two starred opposite to each other.

1. Villa Miranda
2. Andalucia
3. Santiago
4.Tanikalang Dugo
5. Wanted: Perfect Mother
6. Kung Bakit May Tinik ang Mga Rosas
7. Leslie
8. Anthony
9. Cherry Blossoms
10. Hiwaga
11. Sumigaw ka Hanggang ibig mo
12. Magic Makinilya
13. 100 days in September
14. Ang Pag-ibig koy huwag mong sukatin
15. Post Cards from China.

But the two got their big break as screen partners in....

The "almost" like "the sound of music" classic movie where Julie Andrews and Cristopher Plummer rocketed as on screen partners,
The story of "Wanted: Perfect Mother" revolves around Dante who lost his wife and was left with their 4 children. Now a widower, Dante was pressured by his children to look for a perfect mother for them.
Slowly, the father, Dante got emotionally connected to Carmen and vice versa.
The two fell in love. In fact, Carmen and Dante fell in love while the wife played by Liza Lorena was still alive and actually is the primary reason while Carmen left her job post as the children's governess.
The children suddenly gave Carmen cold shoulder treatment which left both Carmen and Dante clueless and confused.
What they didn't know, is that the "mayordoma" played by Caridad Sanchez is poisoning the minds of the children turning them against Carmen.
In the end, Carmen talked to the children of his main man, explaining to them that she wants nothing but the happiness of their father and that she loved him dearly.
The assurance that she will not be replacing the children's deceased mother but rather will be the second mother for them, won the children's heart and approval.
The movie is heartwarming, tender, family oriented and musical.
=) smiley for that.

That movie was produced in the 70's..
The love team continued around early 80's, I guess.
So that was it for them, sure they were given projects after that era but it wasn't till 2011 that they belonged to the same casting for a project.
At first, the relationship between Remedios (Boots Anson Roa) and Edgardo (Dante Rivero) was pure friendship since Remedios is the wife of Edgardo's bestfriend, Jaime (Ronaldo Valdez).
And it was not till the end of Remedios's character that Edgardo professed his love to her while she is in coma.
But even before that scene, "some" people (including myself, i must say) has been buzzing about the extra tender looks of Edgardo to Remedios. The perhaps too much tenderness and care is what gave the "secret love" away.
It just kinda felt good to see onscreen partners be reunited though not in the typical boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife set-up together again.

Boots Anson Roa

1:36 a.m in my laptop...my body clock still ticking..
tsk.tsk.tsk.
still early. Perhaps too early.
My attention was turned here in my blog, i realized I have been making stuffs for people I admire, love, respect and care for. but never yet, for the unrequited love of my life, the person i will forever admire.
I have a tiny secret..
I am very much awed and amazed by the beauty of Ms. Boots Anson Roa.
There! I said it. oh yes I just did.
Everything about this woman is admirable.
Her nose line, her perfect eyes, luscious eye lashes, marvelous lips, free flowing wavy hair, graceful strides, elegant manner, kind heart, undefinable talent, unbelievable level of professionalism.
So, you might ask, when did I start to fall in love with this great woman.
2001, the teleserye "Sa dulo ng walang hanggan" aired.
There I first saw the homely/motherly aura that this woman exudes, I thought then, that It is her effective portrayal of her character that won me over. It has to be that. Nothing more.
So I said, okay. "I kinda like her"
The "kinda" that I thought would be just a passing admiration stuck with me with deep emotional urging to learn things about this lovely lady.
I asked my mom and aunts, her name didn't just ring a bell, it did rang millions of bells.
Floods of movie tittles were rattled endlessly some I understood as "Wanted Perfect Mother" "Santiago" "Tatay na si Erap" and the rest was muffled by the excitement of my informants.
After the rush of excitement, there followed the awkward question..
"Why?"
I didn't know how to answer then... I was 12 for goodness sake!!
But I very well know the answer now.
Not just because I consider myself as an old soul and felt the immediate connection towards a lady thrice my age. But, Its more like, right there and then, I knew that she is a woman of talent, and a woman who deserves and give no less than respect.
